This hallow-en will it be a trick or a treat ? Surely a deadly treat !!
Ingredient
Salted Butter – 250gm
Powdered Sugar - 150gm
Egg – 1
Almond extract – 1tsp
Vanilla extract – 1tsp
All
purpose flour – 400 gm
Baking
powder – 1 tsp
Almond – ½
cup ( skin peeled and halfed)
Icing
sugar – 5 tbsp
Red colour
– 1 to 2 drops
Fruit jam – 2 tbsp
Method
- Combine the butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Beat together.
- Gradually
add the flour, baking powder, continually beating;
- Knead
it into a dough, cover and refrigerate for 30 min
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (170 degrees C).
Lightly grease baking sheets.
- Remove
dough from refrigerator in small amounts. Scoop 1 heaping teaspoon at a time. Roll
the dough into a thin finger-shaped cookie.
- Squeeze
cookie near the tip and again near the center of each to give the impression of
knuckles. You can also cut into the dough with a sharp knife at the same points
to help give a more finger-like appearance
- Press one almond into one end of each cookie
to give the appearance of a long fingernail. Remove the almond and apply some
jam at that portion and then press the almond back.
- Arrange
the shaped cookies on the baking sheets.
- Bake
in the preheated oven until the cookies are slightly golden in color, 20
minutes. Let it cook
- Mix
the icing sugar with colour and few drops of water to make a thick paste ( a
consistency that it drips a little)
- When
the cookies are cooled, drop 2 to 3 drops of red icing sugar on the other end
of the cookies, let it drip a little
- Your delicious, scary cookies are ready.
